Butter Yellow Hutch

Lately I have been busily cranking on furniture because I am going to be putting my pieces in a shop opening late October. For you Phoenicians, I’ll post the location as we get closer…

This week I refinished this hutch that I found on Craigslist. I thought a buttery yellow color would be perfect for it, and chose Benjamin Moore’s appropriately named “fresh butter.” If I want a more muted yellow in the future I will definitely try out “buttermilk.” But, this color is perfect for this piece!

The color coupled with the natural top and backer board compliment each other nicely.  I order to match the backer board with the natural top, I diluted Special Walnut and lacquer thinner for a very weak stain, and they match very well.

I spotted the LABEL hardware at Target and got it before I knew what to use it on. I just knew it’d work for something. It adds so much character.

I reused the hardware for the cabinets, but did not use the back plate they were joined to.

I’ll be trying out another butter yellow for my daughter’s room today and will be posting on that soon!
